I think moments like this are why we teach. Make sure you let those who inspired you in your life — teachers, parents, grandparents, whoever they are — actually know how they impacted you. There is no greater gift that you can give a teacher. Having been the recipient of this only on a small scale, I can tell it must be an incredible feeling, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t hope to experience it one day.

I've had more than one "Mrs. Hall" in my life: Mr. Price Smith, Mrs. Thelma Hill, Mrs. Pearl Shirley, Miss Irma Wymore, and many others–including my mother, who went back to college when I was a freshman in high school. Sadly, because I entered the teaching profession late in life, I never had the opportunity to tell these educators how grateful I am for their inspiration. But I write about them every chance I get. Maybe my belated thanks to them will inspire others to follow the Teacher's Way. I hope so!
